X-Men: The Last Stand Sells 5 Million Copies Its First Week

According to The Hollywood Reporter, X-Men: The Last Stand and The Little Mermaid took the top-2 spots in last week's DVD sales charts, dominating over the rest of the titles in the top-10 list:

That led to a one-two finish on the national DVD sales chart for the week ending Oct. 8 and, according to observers, should mitigate fears among some big retailers that digital downloads are eating into DVD sales. Both titles achieved their DVD success despite being readily available, at lower prices, through online download services.

Sales were so strong for both titles that the No. 3 DVD on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert Sales chart, the previous week's chart-topper The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, sold one-tenth as many copies during the week as X-Men: The Last Stand
