The Tale of the Black Freighter Is Coming to DVD in March

Source:  Air Force Times
It appears that one part of The Watchmen graphic novel can be seen after all. According to New York Times, a separate, straight-to-DVD animated release entitled The Tale of the Black Freighter, will be released on DVD right after The Watchmen's theatrical debut on March 6, 2009, with the DVD to most likely be released on March 10, 2009.

The DVD will also include the documentary "Under the Hood" which takes a look a the back-stories of these characters. It was originally thought that this story was going to be a part of The Watchmen film.

Zach Snyder, who directed The Watchmen, is also directing this animated story. He said that he was excited to use more material from the original graphic novel by Alan Moore and Frank Gibbons.

"I thought the 'Black Freighter' story would never see the light of day," he said. "The main picture is nearing three hours long and I know I have a fight on my hands just with that."

We'll keep you posted on this new DVD and The Watchmen film, which opens on March 6, 2009, when we get more information.
