Amin Joseph (The Shield) has booked a role in the The Weinstein Co.'s horror pic The Mist, based on a Stephen King novel, according to Variety.

Frank Darabont is directing the film which also stars Thomas Jane and Andre Braugher.

Published in 1985 as part of Stephen King's short story collection "Skeleton Crew," The Mist takes place in a small town where a thick mist engulfs the area, killing those caught in its darkness. Terrified survivors seek refuge in a supermarket, while a swarm of murderous critters tries to get in.

The trade papers also reports that George Stults (7th Heaven) has landed a role in the independent film Hydra.

The movie concerns an island where millionaires hunt human prey -- but that also harbors a legendary monster. Andrew Prendergast directs, with Lisa Hansen producing.

Stults' credits include Friends, Will & Grace and What Lies Above.
