Scott Porter Jumps Aboard Speed Racer

Fans of NBC's Friday Night Lights now have a reason to cheer. According to Variety, one of its breakout stars has just signed on to star in Speed Racer.

Scott Porter will play the character of Rex, Speed Racer's older brother. In the film, he disappears early on only to return as Racer X. Matthew Fox will be playing the grown-up version of Porter's Character.

Emile Hirsch is playing the lead. John Goodman and Susan Sarandon are starring as Rex and Speed's parents.

The film begins principle photography later this month in Berlin.
