Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is heading back to the desert, specifically Almaogrodo, New Mexico. New Mexico's Governor Bill Richardson announced the return of the giant robots in a statement made to the local news outlet KVIA News.
"Transformers was a huge success and I am pleased that Dream Works, Paramount Pictures and Michael Bay have decided to return to New Mexico to film the second installment," said Governor Richardson.
The film has been in pre-production in Alamogordo since April, and expects to begin filming in the fall.
Directed by Michael Bay and starring Shia LaBeouf, Megan Fox, Josh Duhamel, Tyrese Gibson, Matthew Marsden and Andrew Howard, Transformers 2: Revenge of the Fallen is scheduled for a June 26, 2009 release date.
