According to the Perth Sunday Times, Hugh Jackman has hired his good friend and personal trainer, Michael Ryan, to help him prepare for the lead role in Fox's Wolverine.
Wolverine is a prequel to Fox's popular X-Men franchise, and tells the story of the life of the titular mutant hero before he met the X-Men.
Jackman and Ryan have been friends since the days when Jackman was a student, and Jackman was the best man at Ryan's wedding earlier this year.
Wolverine begins shooting this November, with a release date in 2008.
