Superman has been grounded, and this time not by Kryptonite. Talking to Thisisnorthscotland.co.uk, Brandon Routh reveals that Superman: The Man of Steel could be delayed due to the strike by the Writer's Guild of America.

Routh explained that the sequel to Superman Returns: "[Is] supposed to be happening. They're going to be getting the script written here after the writer's strike, so we'll start next year some time."

The last strike by screenwriters, back in 1988, lasted for 22 weeks. This time around most of Hollywood is hoping for a swift solution, particularly Routh: "All the more power to the writers, everybody wants their fair share but I just trust we can get it done quicker - sooner rather than later."

Superman: The Man of Steel was originally slated for a 2010 release.
