Eva Mendes Joins The Spirit

Frank Miller's The Spirit has just added Eva Mendes to its cast. According to Variety, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L. Jackson and Gabriel Macht will also be appearing in this adaptation of Will Eisner's graphic novel.

The script, which was written by Miller, revolves around a rookie cop who fakes his own death so that he can fight crime from the darkness of the city's shadows. Lionsgate will be releasing the film sometime in 2009.

The Spirit will begin shooting this October at New Mexico's Albuquerque Studios.
