She couldn't tell us who she was doubling for, since the actress hasn't officially been named yet, but apparently Kate Newman is the closest thing to the lead actress for X-Men Origins: Wolverine, serving as the unnamed actress's double. Scene.co.nz Newman revealed a few tidbits from the upcoming blockbuster prequel to Fox's X-Men trilogy.
Newman says that the actress she doubled is an up-and-coming twenty-something and a "really nice girl." Newman is apparently a dead ringer for the actress, although she had to have her lighter colored hair dyed a darker brown to match. Of her double, Newman said "She's not high-maintenance like you'd expect a Hollywood actress to be."
Newman says that she was mostly filmed for stand-in scenes, which give actors and camera operators an idea of how to shoot. She also did minor stunt work. Her "scariest" task was to drive an old two-wheel-drive ute along narrow gravel roads at about 80kmh. "Every time you see that character in a car, that's actually me."
She also had the "unexpected" job of kissing Jackman's double, though not the actor himself. "Definitely no tongue involved," she adds. Newman described Jackman as a "typical Aussie bloke" who's "100 per cent" focused on set but cracks jokes off it.
X-Men Origins: Wolverine explores Wolverine's early days, before joining the X-Men. The film will cover Logan's early life, and his involvement with the mysterious Weapon X program. The film stars Hugh Jackman as Logan/Wolverine, Liev Shrieber as Creed/Sabretooth, Danny Huston as Stryker, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool Taylor Kitsch as Gambit and will.i.am as John Wraith . X-Men Origins: Wolverine is due to arrive in theatres in 2009.
