"Two thirds of this movie are quite promising!!"

This Japanese horror movie is three short films by popular Japanese directors. So let me start with the first one. This film is about an aging lady obsessed with the concept of staying young. She meets a woman(Bai Ling)who has a recipe for dumplings that can keep you young, when she eats them they work immediately. This movie becomes dangerously grotesque and uncomfortable once you find out that these dumplings are made from abortioned fetuses!!My stomach twisted during this movie in ways i never thought possible.Very gross indeed. The performances are good and the leading actress becomes an inhuman, baby eating monster. The scenes are particularly gross, showing us alot more than most of us should EVER care to see. There is an extended version which I personally suggest seeing as it balances out the nastieness with some RIDICULOUSLY hot sex scenes! The second is about an actor and his wife who are kidnapped by an obsessed, deranged movie extra. This is where i started losing hope in the movie. All the dialouge is silly and the "killer" is a goofball! This one gets needlessly confusing. There are a couple cool scenes and it looks like this director saw "Saw" one too many times and thought "Hey!I could make that worse!" There is a cool scene in which his wife is trapped in a tangle of razor sharp piano-wire,that is a highlight! This second film is deffinitely forgettable. The third is a much more abstract film about two little girls who used to be contortionists in they're dad's circus act.It starts us off with one of the two girls in the future and she is seeiing a psychologist due to child hood trauma. The story is hard to follow but unlike the last film this one goes somewhere. Some good and relatively sad performances.good scenes in the vein of the grudge amd a suprise ending it is worth watching but the first movie is my favorite! So overall the first and last movies make up for my dislike of the middle one.Fun to watch the whole way through at least once.
