"Dude, That Goalie Was Pissed About Something."
On August 15th, 2003 my mother took me to my local theater to see a film about two slasher film characters meeting up and fighting each other. We bought the tickets, some food, and I went into the front row while she went to the back. The theater was packed with a bunch of horror fanatics waiting to see Freddy Krueger and jason Voorhees duke it out.
The film is directed by Ronny Yu (Bride of Chucky, Fearless) and does it well. He really captured the story and characters well. The film is written by Damian Shannon and Mark Swift (I guess this was their fifteen minutes becuase I honestly havent heard anything about them besides this film) who really did their research on the characters.
Plot:
Freddy Krueger is stuck in Hell, and his only way out is if people remember him and his many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many murders. So he resurrects Jason Voorhees and tricks him into rising from the grave again by pretending to be his mother. Freddy tells Jason to kill the kids on Elm Street in Springwood, Ohio. But once he does, he doesn't stop which brings up the title. =). Oh, and they kick each other's ass all ove the place. lol
Which reminds me, Robert Englund returns for like the 7th time as our favorite burnt up fugly killah. He is the only actor who can play the role.
Ken Kirzinger plays my second favorite horror villain, Jason Voorhees. I've honestly never heard of this guy other than this film. Anyways, he does it really well and caught Jason like all the others have.
All of the rest of the cast does it well (except for Kelly Rowland. Ugh. Seriously??? And the druggie who tries too hard to be like Jay). My favorite from this film is Chris Marquette (The Girl Next Door, Alpha Dog) as Charlie Linderman, the kid who's trying too hard to get laid.
The visuals in the film are really great. Especially in the climactic fight.
Body Count=24
This is my 3rd favorite Nightmare flick and my 4th favorite Friday film.
So, in the style of Vamp I plan to review all of the Friday films and then all of the Nightmare films.
Next up is Part Two: Jason X, ugh...
