""I could tell ya, but then I'd have to kill ya.""
30,000 people are reported missing in Australia every year. 90% are found within a month. Some are never seen again....
This movie is directed by Greg McLean and based on a true story. Three young people, Ben (played by Nathan Phillips; also in Snakes on a Plane), Liz (Cassandra Magrath), and Kristy (Kestie Morasi) take a road trip to Wolf Creek, a park where a meteor fell. Filmed in the Australian outback, the movie is visually stunning.
At Wolf Creek, they run into car problems, and who should just happen to come along? A man named Mick (John Jarratt). Mick says he can fix the car but must drive back to his place for the part. Reluctantly (but with really no other option) they agree and Mick tows them and the car. This is where it starts to go wrong.
Mick appears friendly with a sense of humor and a constant laugh, but underneath is a sociopath, who gets his kicks torturing and killing people, with no hesitation. In one scene, one of the girls comes upon a room full of vehicles, purses, drivers licenses', camcorders, photos, and various other items, proving this man has been doing this for quite a while.
The acting in this movie is top-notch by all, especially John Jarratt. There is lots of violence and lots of blood, which personally to me looks real.
Since this is based on a true story, at the end of the movie they let the audience know the outcome of this particular story.
This was a good film, despite it not being an incredibly original story.
