After model Alisha Reilly is fatally electrocuted while walking along a water-filled runway at a fashion show, Horatio learns that she was married to Joe LeBrock, the prisoner who recently threatened Horatio's son, Kyle. The designer, Gavin Hauer, used platinum wire in all his designs, but the CSIs discover that the platinum was removed from one dress and used to rewire the lighting on a pole on the runway. Walking the wet runway, Alisha touched the pole and was electrocuted. Closer examination of the dresses reveals that their fabric also contains large amounts of heroin. Hauer has been using his fashion line as a way to traffic heroin.
When Horatio questions him, LeBrock doesn't give up anything; instead, he assures Horatio that it's just a matter of time before he gets Kyle. Things worsen when Oscar, the prisoner Horatio enlisted to watch over Kyle, is killed in a cell phone-detonated bomb while out on road duty. The phone is traced back to Kyle, who claims that Joe surreptitiously gave it to him so that he could track down his mother. Reilly's killer turns out to be a fellow model who envied her marriage to Joe. With that murder solved, Horatio must still figure out a way to exonerate his son, who is implicated in Oscar's murder. LeBrock denies ordering one of his men to place the deadly call from the phone that he so conveniently gave to Kyle. Horatio finally gets LeBrock to exonerate Kyle by threatening to make public some recently obtained surveillance footage of LeBrock's son, Scott, soliciting sex from children.
