Polly Bergen and Mike Farrell Joins the Cast of Desperate Housewives

Inside sources have confirmed to Michael Ausiello at TV Guide that veteran actress Polly Bergen (the original Cape Fear, Commander in Chief) has been cast as the mother of Felicity Huffman's character, Lynette Scavo on Desperate Housewives.

Bergen will first appear in the May 20 season finale to "help" Lynette deal with a life-threatening health crisis. TV Guide's sources say "She shows up smoking and drinking ... It should be a really fun character."

In addition, Mike Farrell (M*A*S*H) has been cast to play Victor's wealthy father (and Gaby's soon-to-be father-in-law). He will also make his first appearance in the season finale of the ABC hit series.
