FX beat out competing Networks TNT/TBS, USA, and Spike for exclusive rights to air the theatrical film Spider-Man 3. If the movie makes more than $400 million at the box office, FX might have to pay upwards of $33 million just to have it on their channel.

The channel has been trying to steer clear of older syndicated shows, filling its time with action-oriented theatrical fare. The Network will first run the film in 2009. FX also had similar exclusive rights to Spider-Man 2.

Other films that have recently been snatched up by FX include Night at the Museum, The Departed, Superman Returns, and Click.
